I spent 3 days in the Grand Canyon during while I covorted about the West.   This is what relaxing vacations are made of!  I took a "Jeep" tour one night (combined Indian Paintings tour with the Sunset tour) and it was the best part of the trip.  If you're going to the Canyon and the famous mule ride seems out of your league (adventure-wise that is), the Jeep Tour is a sure crowd-pleaser!  Here's the site to the tour company I used:  http://www.grandcanyonjeeptours.com/
The photos above are of the canyon we drove into, and the Indian cave paintings we viewed and finally our authentic part Navajo Indian guide!  I can't recommend it enough!

I took my trip in July, and learned that the smog & pollution from Las Vegas travels far and into the Canyon and no matter where I viewed the Canyon from, there was blurry haze inside it.  It seemed absolutely impossible to take good, clean pictures, even with a tri-pod and fair lighting.  Of course it rained two of the three days I was there, so that mist added to the overcast appearance of the pictures too.  None-the-less, it was as can be expected a site to behold.  And even if there was a haze, it seemed impossible not to take a beautiful picture no matter where I stood or pointed my camera!

Here are a few shots of my first (upper left) and second (lower middle) sunsets and shots from a couple view points.  The lower left photo is a shot of a train car - you can take train tours as well which include meals and last all day I think.  I didn't take the train tour myself, but you can find more info here:  http://www.thetrain.com/  The lower right shot is an indoor photo of one of the new lodges (Mavapai Point I think) where you can go to see more pictures, and hear rangers talk about various subjects as well as stamp your National Parks Passport and there's a great book store across the way!
